Rh or Rc, old system had a jumper. Thermostat. So I just installed the nest learning 3rd generation thermostat. When I took the old thermostat off I noticed the red wire was ran into the Rh slot, but was then jumped over to Rc. When I installed the Nest Learning Thermostat, I noticed that I cannot use a jumper.The jumper was required with the old stat to energize the compressor on demand for heating or cooling. The new thermostat will energize the compressor for heating or cooling using the Y terminal when you configure it for heat pump operation. My Honeywell thermostat use only w/g/y/r.-There’s a jumper between w/y and Yellow wire goes on Y.-Green wire goes on G-White wire goes on O-There’s a jumper between Rc and R and Red wire goes on R.
